Airway Clearance Knowledge Portal
The second most important initiative of Linda’s Breath is to build the most comprehensive knowledge database of airway clearance, breathing disorders, treatments, protocols, research, professionals and facilities. The Airway Clearance Knowledge Portal (ACKP) initiative covers extensive and widespread subjects in airway clearance medicine, science and care.
The audiences served by the Knowledge Portal include patients, respiratory care professionals, academic & industry researchers, professional organizations, government personnel, manufacturers, universities, for-profit organizations, NGOs, technical associations and societies, and non-profit organizations. The primary aim of the Knowledge Portal is to help patients make informed decisions on treatments. Other goals include networking among the participants to support and coordinate contributing their data and knowledge.
The internet based knowledge portal will make efficient and seamless retrieval of the wide spectrum of Linda’s Breath knowledge. There are numerous organizations with existing airway clearance knowledge. The ACKP will include an integrated cross-reference system to show where specific airway clearance knowledge resides, and will also support key participants’ efforts to work together to preserve airway clearance data and knowledge. Participants joining the initiative can be individuals and organizations, and can contribute in countless ways, such as to developing the first accurate and comprehensive taxonomy of airway clearance; locations of airway clearance databases and repositories; converting disparate formats of documents and data into robust and accessible digital forms; interpreting documents and information for ease of understanding; assessing the quality of the data and information; preparing the ultimate bibliography of airway clearance; etc.
The integrated worldwide knowledge system is being built to facilitate creating, accessing, and storing millions of pieces of content. What may be even more exciting, the participants will have a variety of exciting tools to utilize to their advantage. For example, patients will find extensive information on diseases and treatments, coupled with a database to locate qualified practitioners and facilities for help. Organizations can build authentic communications and narratives keyed to their various audiences that will help those organizations drive brand awareness, success and respect. And researchers, educators, corporations and universities can leverage the knowledge for new treatments, new insights, and new successes… everyone benefits!
